4/29/2007 The members of L.L. 218 employed by Mueller Brass Co. voted unanimously to reject the proposed contract at a meeting held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, April 29th. This proposal issued by the company the previous Friday was a complete reversal of over a month's work of negotiation.
Among the proposed changes were a wage freeze for one year with separate wage scale for new hires, no further COLA increases, dramatic increases in health insurance and medicine copays (including a reversal of a preceding arbitration over mail-order medication), and unacceptable contract language such as hours of work, vacation, and representation.
